WHILE the nation was busy voting and the political operatives were counting the numbers, Liverpool racegoers were working out their own ``sums'' at the big thoroughbred race meeting at Warwick Farm Racecourse on Saturday.
The running of the time-honoured 100 Club Warwick
Stakes, 1400 metres, was the feature attraction on the eight-race program.
Rosehill trainer Chris Waller took out the main race.
In fact, he produced the trifecta in the $175,000, Group Two event.
Waller's five-year-old galloper Metal Bender showed ``steel-like'' ability to defeat stablemate Triple Honour in a narrow finish with race favourite, Danleigh, third.
``The winning horse's owner, David Fuller, is a member of the Warwick Farm 100 Club,'' AJC chief executive Darren Fuller said.
``The 100 Club is the AJC's initiative to give local businesses naming rights at Warwick Farm and we are delighted a club member won the big race.''
In the Fernwood Liverpool Silver Shadow Stakes, 1200 metres, for three-year-old fillies, Warwick Farm trainer Peter Snowden won the race with exciting galloper Parables.
And Snowden, who won the 2009/10 trainers' premiership, also produced the winner of the Group Three Stevco Seals And Pumps Up And Coming Stakes, 1200 metres, with Blackball.
