Liverpool residents ready to run in the Westlink M7 Cities Marathon

26 May, 2010 10:37 AM
LIVERPOOL residents are encouraged to lace up their running shoes for the fifth annual Westlink M7 Cities Marathon on Sunday, July 25.

Online entries are now open until a few days before the event for the marathon, the Mizuno Marathon Relay Challenge and the kids Marathon, which is sponsored by Liverpool Council.

Mayor Wendy Waller wants the community to participate in the city bicentenary event.

The race starts at 7am at the Liverpool City Robins Sports Club, Ash Road, Prestons.

Runners will then run 30 kilometres to Quakers Hill and turn back to exit off at Eastern Road, Rooty Hill, finishing at the athletics track of Blacktown Olympic Park, Eastern Road, Rooty Hill.

``The Westlink M7 Cities Marathon is an important collaboration between local councils and the Westlink M7,'' Ms Waller said.

Total prizemoney is $50,000.

This year's run is a lead-up to the Bicentenary Clive Graham Fun Run on Sunday, September 12, at Greenway Park.
