THE Cougar baseball cubs from Kemps Creek are ready to pounce when the new season arrives in September.
But before that the Kemps Creek Cougars Baseball Club are holding two Try Baseball days next month at their playing fields, adjacent to the Kemps Creek Sporting and Bowling Club, Elizabeth Drive.
This Sunday, August 1, and Sunday, August 8, the Cougars are encouraging new players to come along, between 10am and 4pm. Cougars' vice-president Matt Hand, of Catherine Field, said the Try Baseball days are for players from T-ball age, under 5s up to under 16s. ``The concept of the day is for the boys and girls who have never played before to come along and try baseball and also have some fun,'' Hand said.
The Cougars, formed in 1996, play in the Greater Western Baseball Association competition. Last season the Cougars had 100 registered players in age groups from under 5s to under 16s.
The club's major sponsor is Kemps Creek Sporting and Bowling Club.
