BONNYRIGG White Eagles intend to get off to a flying start in the 2012 NSW Premier League soccer season kick-off on Saturday, March 31.
Football NSW will soon announce their opponents and the venue.
The top tier Football NSW competition includes 12 teams again this season.
White Eagles secretary George Mandic said the first grade and Premier League Youth League under-20s teams would have trial games before the premiership that would sort out player combinations, team skills and boost players' fitness.
The Eagles finished last season fifth after the premiership rounds and were eliminated in the opening weekend of the finals by Blacktown City, 2-1.
Mandic said players had been working hard pre-season and were looking forward to the trial games and the start of the premiership.
"We have six new players and we have also lost a few players to other clubs," he said.
"We will have a young, athletic and skilful squad this year. The oldest player is 28, and the average age of the team will be about 22 or 23."
Mandic said Brian Brown was again the club's first grade coach and Cliff Pointer again his assistant.
The Eagles have appointed a new under-20s coach — former Eagles player Roman Nikolic.
"Roman has been coaching in the youth league junior representative system for a few years and we welcome him aboard in his new role," Mandic said.
The opening trial game is against St George on Sunday, January 29, at St George Stadium, Kyeemagh.
Mandic said other trials were set down next month against Albion Park White Eagles on Thursday, February 10, and against Wollongong United on Saturday, February 12, at Wollongong.
More trials are scheduled against Sydney Uni at Bonnyrigg Sports Centre, on Sunday, February 19; versus Fraser Park on Sunday, February 26, at Fraser Park, and Saturday, March 3, against Granville Rage at Granville.
There will also be a trial game against Blacktown City, on Saturday, March 10, at Bonnyrigg Sports Centre.
