Woman dead after Leppington crash

A woman aged in her 70s is dead after the car she was travelling with collided with a semi-trailer at Leppington on Friday afternoon.

Shortly after 1pm, a Toyota sedan and a semi-trailer collided at the intersection of Cowpasture Road and Camden Valley Way at Leppington.

A female passenger in the Toyota, believed to be aged in her 70s, died at the scene.

Motorists were told to expect lengthy delays in the area.

The driver, a man also believed to be aged in his 70s, has been taken to Liverpool Hospital with a range of injuries and is in a serious but stable condition.

The male truck driver has been taken to hospital suffering shock.

The intersection was closed to traffic for several hours.

Investigations are continuing.
