Three months went into pop, rock and soul

01 Sep, 2010 01:00 AM
FOR three long months, a group of Aboriginal high school children auditioned, practised songs and settled their nerves for a special final concert last Wednesday night. Auditions began in May for the vocal identification program that is a part of the KARI Aboriginal Resources' Cultural Enrichment Program. It helped the kids develop their vocal abilities as well as their performance skills and stagecraft. To achieve this they had access to professional instructors and high-profile mentors from within the music industry.

The students developed skills that helped them to perform, plan goals and develop self-esteem while maintaining their cultural connections.

The performances covered pop, rock and soul music.
