Teen sought over dog beating

09 Jan, 2012 06:48 AM
A DOG was left with a broken jaw and teeth after she was hit with a stick in Kemps Creek on Saturday, police said.

About 9.40am, the Jack Russell/Cavalier dog ran from her home in Herbert Street and onto the nature strip.

Police said the dog barked at a pedestrian before a teenage boy picked up a stick and struck the dog on the head.

The teen ran and was later confronted by the dog's owner, Salvatore Iogha, in Fifteenth Avenue before running away again.

The dog was taken to a nearby animal shelter, where she had surgery for a broken jaw and broken teeth.

"I was really upset," Mr Iogha said.

Police wish to speak with a boy described as aged between 16 and 17, of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern appearance, with a muscular build and dark hair. He wore a white shirt and blue shorts with a yellow stripe.

Details: Green Valley police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
