LIVERPOOL Council area should be split into two to ensure the area's smooth development, says Bringelly resident Pauline Rowe.
Mrs Rowe, who recently joined the Liverpool Community Independents Team, has been a campaigner for the rights of Liverpool's rural residents for years.
She said the area the council looked after was too large for the council to be effective.
``It's too big of an area for one council,'' Mrs Rowe said. ``And with all of the new releases it will be almost impossible for the council to stay on top of everything that will need to be done.'' Mrs Rowe said another disadvantage was the fact that the rural area was divided between three councils, which she said made it difficult for them to be consistent.
``But I'm feeling more positive now, because I feel that Liverpool Council is listening to the rural residents more,'' she said. ``I just hope that some changes can be made in the Liverpool local environment plan to correct some of the errors made in the past.''
Mrs Rowe says the council's area should be split in half so that the rural zone could have its own council, but she isn't too hopeful that this will happen.
She joined the Liverpool Community Independents Team to get involved in the local political process.
