FINDING a local horse chiropractor seems hard for those new to the horse industry.
Two local women hope to make it easier with an online directory for south-west Sydney.
The website horseandpony.com.au to be launched this Sunday, February1, includes everything from horse breeders, trainers and vets to horse memorabilia and pony hire.
Website designer Karen Kemp and her friend Jacqui Seconi started building the site last month.
Mrs Kemp said the site would save time in the search for horse services. ``There is an Australia-wide version of this but to find something local, you could be on there for 10 minutes,'' she said. ``This rolls it all into one.''
The site, which already has 10 local advertisers, is only for businesses in south-west Sydney and has free listings for horse rescue and charities and also facilitates the buying and selling of horses.
Mrs Seconi said she and Mrs Kemp had been blown away by how big south-west Sydney was for the equine industry.
``A lot of the trainers are already out here but it's hard to find them,'' she said.
Both women said the website was especially relevant to Macarthur with last year's reopening of Menangle Park Paceway.
Their horse Tomika was a victim of the horse flu but now races at the paceway each week under the name Swift Dream.
``My uncle had bred her and she got sick with the flu and then she had a secondary infection,'' Mrs Kemp said.
``They said she probably wouldn't race again but we nursed her back to health and are having a great time watching her race.''
