IT'S not every day two former international rugby league players come to Liverpool and attend a grand-final lunch.
Former Bulldogs and Western Suburbs Magpies forward Paul Langmack and former Balmain hooker Benny Elias will be special guests at the Macquarie Hotel NRL grand final lunch on Wednesday, September 28, between noon and 3pm. The NRL grand final will be played on Sunday, October 2, at ANZ Stadium.
Langmack and Elias enjoyed outstanding careers at club and representative level.
Langmack won three grand finals with the Bulldogs in 1984, 1985 and 1988 and was a member of the beaten grand final side in 1986 which lost 4-2 to Parramatta.
The skilful lock and second-rower played 309 first-grade games at three clubs — Bulldogs, Wests and Sydney Roosters — between 1983 and 1999.
He also coached South Sydney in 2003 and the 2004 seasons.
Elias played 234 games for the Tigers between 1982 and 1994 and played 22 games for NSW at State of Origin level and represented Australia in 14 Tests.
Elias also played in beaten grand finals with the Tigers in 1988 and 1989.
Langmack and Elias were members of the victorious 1986 Kangaroos squad which toured England and France.
"It's good to come to Liverpool and it should be a fun day," Langmack said. "Benny and I will be talking about grand finals and reeling off some old yarns on the day and we're really looking forward to the luncheon."
Tickets cost $30, which includes lunch and refreshments.
