Get stuck on style

BEAUTIFUL wall stickers from The Wall Sticker Company can add a splash of colour, a touch of whimsy or a bit of individual flair to your home.

They have become a popular way to liven up a room in a flash and best of all, they don't cost the earth and are easy to remove and reuse when your style changes.

Thewallstickercompa ny.com.au has produced eye-catching pieces of wall art since friends Fiona Gathercole and Jenny Menz started the Melbourne-based business in 2006.

``We came across this great vinyl product and found no one else was offering wall stickers at the time,'' Ms Gathercole said.

``We originally started with children's designs like big, coloured spots but since then we've expanded hugely.''

Clients can now choose from a large range of stickers for nurseries, children's rooms, bedrooms and living areas, weddings and special occasions and Christmas time.

There are also limited edition ranges from up-and-coming designers such as Jane Reiseger and Print Space.

The stylish designs available include whimsical birds and birdcages, pretty tree motifs, dandelions, snowflakes, clouds, planes and inspirational quotes.

Ms Gathercole said the business's personalised wall stickers meant clients could tailor their sticker for a specific room, person or occasion.

``We do custom designs for individuals and businesses; we mainly do text and wording and clients can choose the size, shape and colour,'' she said.

Ms Gathercole said the birdcage, the inspirational `live' quote and the enchanted tree designed by Cocoon Couture were among the most popular stickers.

``What you choose depends on how much space you have,'' Ms Gathercole said.

``If you have a small room with little wall space you might go for a small design like the blue wren, or if you have a big room you can go for something like the enchanted tree which just looks beautiful.''

The reusable stickers are printed and cut on a machine in Melbourne and have a matte finish.

``They're a low-tack adhesive which means they sit close to the wall and can be moved and changed as you like,'' Ms Gathercole said.

She said it was important to staff that the stylish designs were accessible to a wide range of design-savvy customers, so they tried to keep costs down.

``We're really conscious of our prices so our product ranges from $25 to $275,'' she said.

Ms Gathercole said The Wall Sticker Company was as eco-friendly as possible and they often bought trees to offset their business's carbon emissions.
