THE man now in charge at the Liverpool Australian Red Cross Blood Service Donor Centre admits he is yet to donate the vital body fluid but he soon will.
Correy Harrington once worked in retail management for hardware giant Bunnings Warehouse.
"I will be giving blood very soon. I was speaking about this with the nurses the other day," Mr Harrington said.
Before started his new job, Mr Harrington, 32, built a strong foundation with the Bunnings group. He intended to spend a fair slab of his working life there.
But one day, the "penny dropped" for him: it was time for renewal, a fresh start.
"I felt it was time for a change," Mr Harrington said.
That was in April.
Mr Harrington only started as the Liverpool Donor Centre manager a few weeks ago.
"I took a career/life break in April. I needed it and it was the best I thing I ever did," Mr Harrington said.
He spent time doing renovations on his Sefton home before re-entering the workforce.
Mr Harrington said unless he not taken a break from work, he wouldn't have ended up where he is now.
"I am very happy with my new job. The people here at the Liverpool Donor Centre are great, they are very enthusiastic," he said.
"I have found this role by accident. I was searching the online job networks and the advertisement was there.
"Because I had a retail and management background there were things in the job description which I felt suited me. I applied for the job through an agency then had an interview and got the job."
