ALL Saints Catholic Girls College placed third in the annual Sydney Catholic Colleges Dance Competition on Friday, after previously winning the title for six consecutive years.
More than 90 students from All Saints performed in the competition, which was held at Mary MacKillop College at Wakeley.
Students and teachers spent 10 weeks preparing and training.
The school competed in all eight categories, including junior, intermediate and senior jazz as well as tap, folk, contemporary, musical and the judge’s choice, which is for hip-hop dance groups.
Since 2005, the school has won the competition with the highest overall points tally and last year they placed first in the contemporary division, the folk division and intermediate and senior jazz.
School captain Emma Lamaro, who has performed in winning routines each year since she started high school, said the competition was one of the highlights in her school life.
‘‘Dancing in this competition is one of the most memorable experiences and a great way to finish off high school,’’ she said.
“We have so much fun dancing with our teams. We’re happy to spend time working together and making the moves look great — even at recess and lunchtimes.”
Mary MacKillop College won the competition and Holy Spirit College at Lakemba placed second.
